2017 CrossFit Open, Regionals and Games Thread

https://games.crossfit.com/article/2017-has-arrived (wfs)

New Masters bracket for age 35-39. (I'm 38 this year.)

New venue for the Games.

Any predictions for open workouts?

Let the chatter begin. 3, 2, 1, GO!

Re: 2017 CrossFit Open, Regionals and Games Thread

Well if Castro said it is going to sting this year then we are in for a hard time.

I would like to see something more than just capacity for example the max C&J/Snatch and maybe a max front squat from the floor during 2 seperate weeks. It will give us heavy guys a little more chance against those duracel rabbits

Re: 2017 CrossFit Open, Regionals and Games Thread

Im sure it will be more of the same with twists and turns. We are always looking for some special announcement. Like with Smith, Rich and Matt are at the ranch.. looking for epic battle then oh repeat workout where the short guy wins and the tall guy lost. Ho hum.. yawn… Throw in something crazy Castro I dare you.

Possible-
Hand stand walks because Castro opened up the measuring marks in 16.1 and they have scaled division so people can do that one if they can't walk on hands.

Pistols- its not that hard to judge them. Just like any other movement in the open some perfect form, some crap#y form and everything in between. Again they offer scaled.

Rope climbs-

Some maxes - Snatch, OHS from ground?

Maybe 2 separate scored workouts so that people can't just focus on one. 1 burner and 1 longer chipper?

Remember what ever he announces celebrate it and know that everyone has to do the workout. You are not special.

My goals are the following:
Be nice to my loved ones and the people around me during this high possible stress time.
Push harder than I have in the past- place higher expectations on myself and live up to it.
Not care at the leader board - that is going to be tough.
1 and done
Do the workout every Friday 5pm.
Just have fun and know that people are watching me. I want to give them a good show and motivate them with giving it my all and being a good sport about it.
Beat my two training partners Kyle and Corey!

Good luck!

Re: 2017 CrossFit Open, Regionals and Games Thread

Games web page a bit jacked?

I looked around and didn't see much discussion on this. Is it just me? Seem like everywhere I navigate there is something odd or broken. For example, when I clicked on the link to my team, the link took me to a different team in a completely different state! So then I tried to find the team listed under the score board. Many states, including my own, show no teams at all. Now I suppose it's possible that none of the 175+ affiliates in my state have registered a team yet...but I doubt it. But then I choose the list by Region it shows up there. Then when I click on the profile for my affiliate, it shows no athletes on the roster, which I know isn't right since I'm on it. So then there is a link at the bottom that says, "Team" and clicking on it opens a new browser window to Team Registration team, which says, "Please correct issues and submit again. Athlete is already on a team" odd. not sure what it's even referring to. Ok, now go back the Leaderboard and show all athletes, type in my own name and it doesn't do anything. Ah! so a person can't be a "Individual Men" if you are over the age of 35 apparently. Picking the appropriate age group and there I am. Clicking of my profile takes me to a page that say, "Register for the 2017 Open", but I'm already registered so apparently the site can't tell the difference between a participant that is logged in and someone that isn't and why is the "Register" choice in the middle of the profile information? Weird. odd.

I'm hopeful they will get this all straightened out in the next few weeks.

Very true David,

allot of simple things that should have been tried and tested in the beta version before they released it.

To name one very simple thing - countries not in alphabetical order
Wether this is a user error or not - women in the 45-49 mens category

I mean if you have good coders you would never have this issue.

Re: 2017 CrossFit Open, Regionals and Games Thread

The #1 they better get right is people able to post their scores. If that fails it will be chaos.

I think the problem is the CF HQ still acts like it just a bunch of guys making it up as they go along. Probably someone's brother's cousin's drinking buddy did the web page...and I'm not kidding. "Hey, anyone know anyone that does web pages? Oh ya, how much do they charge? What? a $1000?? I know a kid that will do it for free! But he did screw it up a few seasons ago...remember when the scores couldn't be submitted in the first workout was stretched out for three weeks? ya, that was jacked. Ok, so we'll pay someone this time. Anyone know anyone cheap? Oh ya? Is he any good? You have no idea but you'll ask... Ok, sounds good, we'll go with that."

And here we are.

Re: 2017 CrossFit Open, Regionals and Games Thread

I tweeted them regarding my past open scores and they told me that the website is a work in progress and will be for a little while. Seems they rushed it for the open registration and will continue to tweak it and improve it.

As for the Open, I know they're doing "Themes" this year for the announcements. If you look on the games web store you'll see they have shirts for garage, student, teacher, doctor, nurse, law enforcement and fire. Wonder if the themes will be chosen from there.

Re: 2017 CrossFit Open, Regionals and Games Thread

Compared to last year i am ready and the body is feeling good.

I don't care about anyone else and what they are doing, I have my goal and I intend on reaching it this year.

Weakness for 2017 HSPU, I have not cracked that one yet but I have 4 weeks.

Alex.. get that hspu. Best tip I ever got is tuck that chin to the chest when you kick up to the wall and keep it tucked when dismounting after your first one.
