Possible elbow injury

Ok. So, my wife is some sort of sadistic yard work organizer and all day Saturday, I was shoveling dirt around the yard to level out some holes and for putting a fence in for a dog area. Now my elbow feels like it has some sort of tendonitis on the outer part of my elbow.

What, if anything, can I do to get it to not hurt as much before I go train this evening? I am a former Marine, so my instinct is to tough it out and push through, but I'm also close to 40 and I don't want to worsen any injury I may have. Are there any stretching moves I can do or what?
