Shoulder Impingement and now Runner's Knee

2 weeks ago I developed some shoulder discomfort after a cycle full of overhead movements. To make matters worse, I was tripped up in soccer game and fell on my internally-rotated arm. I've taken 2 weeks off of upper body exercises, icing it, doing only rehab stretches for the first week, and rehab stretches and strengthening exercises the second week. The exercises are here (wfs). MOBWOD and the journal helped too, but with all of the lower body movements I've been doing lately, I've developed a bit of runner's knee.

My question is...what do I do from here?

My shoulder is getting much much better and the knee pain just started yesterday. I'd take some time off completely, but I've got an obstacle course race this weekend and I want to be in top form (injury free, but also ready for the intensity of the course). Any advice would be appreciated...

Re: Shoulder Impingement and now Runner's Knee

injuries need to b rested. simple as that. Pushing through an injury will just make things worse. i'd rest, eat, sleep, ice, stretch, mobility etc etc etc until ur race. if not heeled by then it's up to u how much it means to b in the race. Unless the prize is huge $ it may not b worth it to push through with an injury.

Re: Shoulder Impingement and now Runner's Knee

Thanks, man. What I thought was runners knee was actually jumpers knee. I've done nothing but ice, foam roll, LAX ball, stretch, massage, and some mobility exercises for it and it's already almost gone (I caught it quickly...and I'm young, which helps).

The race is a 5K mud run that cost 65 bucks. I'm pretty stingy some I'm gonna do it, but if my knee hurts at all during it I'm resting more next week.
