Pulse Spikes
Okay I don't know what else to call it. *Here is my question/experience. *I have been doing CF hard core for about a year now. *I am 41 and in the best all around shape of my life. *What I am noticing is this: *I always take the stairs at work, only four floors. *But when I reach the top floor I am breathing heavily and my pulse rate is elevated a good bit. *Once I get to my cubical it quickly returns to normal. *Several of the people that I work *with who also crossfit *experience the same thing. *My *hypothesis is that since the body adapts to exercise maybe it thinks we are starting an AMRAP or something and goes into overdrive to compensate. *Any thoughts? *

Re: Pulse Spikes
to be honest if you are going up 4 levels of stairs at a reasonable pace without stopping and a faster than slow walk. almost everyones heart rate will increase and they will start breathing. stairs a hard work!

Re: Pulse Spikes
What happened when you took four flights of stairs before you started Crossfit?

Re: Pulse Spikes
It's called work... You are moving your body weight with the largest muscles of your body upon an incline. That's work. The fact that your pulse rate quickly returns to normal is the indicator that you are fitter.

Happens to me only when I'm in Georgia.
