Not Sore but stiff (alittle sore)

Had to ask I've been crossfit for since Nov results have been great ! Lost 20lbs and feel much better on Paleo diet. WOD Wens was Burpees and sit ups Tues was squats / shoulder press / deadlift/ I try 2/1 for right now thats about all my body will let me do.The question is should I still be getting sore or tight afterwards. Thought maybe not enough protein / getting alot of rest and taking fish oil. I try to get everything from solid foods but being a TROOPER it's hard to carry food in the car with a dog in the back seat.Is this normal. Have good strength not tired . Just wanted some input

Are you warming up before and stretching and/or foam rolling after workouts? That makes a big difference for me.

Re: Not Sore but stiff (alittle sore)

I've been hanging around this site for about a year, and have been doing a 2/1 schedule with the mainsite WOD's for 7 months... and I still get sore from select workouts. Sometimes it is worse than others (like if I don't properly scale). But I have found that stretching and foam rolling work wonders.

I'm pretty sure that you're not working hard enough if you're NEVER sore.

Totally agree. I've only been at it for real since Oct/Nov, but my experience aligns with Bo's. I see the same in people who have been at it for years.

Thanks Bo, Mark , Kat I'll start the 2/1 and more stretching and see how that works. Sitting in the car all day does not help out at all.

Re: Not Sore but stiff (alittle sore)

Constant soreness after the first 2-3 weeks of a program is underrecovery or too much volume.

Stretching may help, contrast showers/ice baths, more sleep, scaled workouts, more food, etc.

Or you're overreaching significantly which means you need a back off week.

Re: Not Sore but stiff (alittle sore)

Steven . thanks , it's not just a sore feeling it's more like just being tight. Did more stretching and I feel better after Fri WOD and the more intense the WOD the more I eat Good foods and I feel much better plus alot more water on rest days. I'm learning CROSSFIT is not like the old style of just lifting weights, getting a pump and then a protein shake. My joints use to hurt after going heavy but I've noticed now it is the muscles that I feel with no jont pain only shoulder sometimes. Will try the foam to see if that helps also.
