Rogue Pull-Up Bar?

Anyone have any experience with the Rogue Pull-Up Bar? Seems...suspect? The bar is going to be fine, but it's suspended with straps, no?

I would prefer something bolted to the wall...then again, I suppose you do hang from rings all the time too.

Thoughts?

this thread has links to vids of it in use (wfs)

It takes a bit of getting use to, but you can still kip on it.

Why would you use this rather than rings?

Check out this thread: http://board.crossfit.com/showthread.php?t=32807 (wfs)

I have the rings and the bar. The bar is great when you need to do pull-ups out of the gym and has been key to getting a lot of workouts outside during the warm summer months. It's harder to kip on, and I continue to work on a kip form. My pull-ups go a bit slower, but on the other hand, they require more strength than motion, so it's not all bad!

Well, that's the real question, isn't it That's why I was asking about it. I would imagine we'll go with a traditional pull-up bar...just happened to see this and thought I would find out if anyone had any exp on it.

Matt, we use a home grown version of this in our gym as we are unable to mount a permanent pull-up rig. Originally I thought it was going to be better than nothing but not all that good. After using them though, I really like them. Kipping has a different rhythm but is still easily doable. In fact, some of our guys have found their kip quite quickly.

As far as the difference between the swinging bar and rings it gives you a fixed grip direction. I think this does make a difference.

Cheers, kempie
