How is CF better than a good Back/Bi Chest/Tri WO?

How is Crossfit any better than going to the gym and doing a good day of back/biceps or chest/triceps????

....Is what my friend at the gym asked me today. ::SIGH::
Well at least I love CF and am somewhat glad it is not over saturated with too many people like my buddy from the gym! Keep training !!!

Funny that Lynne is today's WOD. Invite your buddy to do it with you, and see if his question is answered.

Well, it includes the forgotten appendage, the legs. I mean, aside from walking to the bench... and away from the bench.

Seriously, if you're interested in conditioning in addition to arms/back/chest muscle hypertrophy, then you'll find a laundry list of benefits with CF.

EDIT: I missed your footnote at the bottom of the post, lol. Well, you can direct you friend to those links instead.

Training isolated movements is just silly. The brain does not recognize isolated muscles; it recognizes patterns of movement in response to sensory input from the environment. Training isolated movements, individual muscles, has the potential to create tremendous neural confusion.

CrossFit uses multi-joint compound movements (not muscles) that serve a functional purpose in tuned to the complexity of the body's natural functions.

How is CF better than a good Back/Bi Chest/Tri WO?

How is it better? Let me count the ways.
It's better to the depth and breadth and height
My arms can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of lifting and ideal Grace.
It's better to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
It's better freely, as men strive for Right;
It's better purely, as they turn from Praise.
It's better with a passion put to use
In my old workouts, and with my trainer's faith.
It's better with results I seemed to lose
With my lost machines, --- It's better with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my workouts! --- and, if Pukie choose,
I shall but call it better with my last breath.

(mutilated from How Do I Love Thee? Elizabeth Barrett Browning, SONNETS FROM THE PORTUGUESE.)

Oh, yeah.

Susie
