Hello All;
First let me say that I had my doubts when I first read about the Tabata routines. But boy am I a beliver now....this past saturday, through the watchful eye of my eight year old and five year old daughters, I did my first tabata squat workout. Holy crap, that stuff kills.

I'm a fairly strong fellow. In the past, I've repped 505 for sets of 10 and have done breathing squat sets of 20 with 405. But man, 8 sets of whatever for 8 rounds of whatever in a four minute time span wiped me out.

I used a laundry basket (about 10") as the "bench" and went to town. Got 20 for the four sets, then from there it tapered off fast. Did 18 on 5, 17 on 6, 15 on 7, and 12 on 8. I thought my heart was going to pound through my chest on the sixth set.

Kinda freaked out my eight year old because my personal "wolfman" appeared on the sixth set and she'd never seen daddy "morph" before. The five year old thought it was cool and actualy did some burpies with me afterward.

Just wanted to drop a note and say I love this stuff. Thanks to Brandon Walters for introducing me. I haven't curled or done a tricep exercise in almost eight weeks and I truly believe my arms are actually larger. I know they're stronger.

All the best,
Arden

Start in the bottom squat position and you "rest" in the bottom squat position.

Arden,
I did tabata this for the first time a few weeks ago. I never thought that I could bet so messed up so quick! I almost fell down a set of stairs after cause my legs were so weak, and my ribcage was hurting for the next two days in ways that I did'nt think were posible. I think some sort of stokholm effect is taking over me cause I loved it!

Any introduction to Crossfit should mandatorily include Tabata squats, in my humble opinion.
