That's not what Glenn Pendlay says, FWIW....

Re: hang snatch

I'm gonna take a wild stab at this and say that it appears Mr. Pendlay believes in the top-down approach to coaching the O-lifts and Mr. Moser believes in a bottom-up approach.

Re: hang snatch

Hey Lincoln,

I teach the athletes I work with to full snatch from the floor from day one. I strongly believe the best way to learn to full snatch is to full snatch. I keep things very simple for the athlete and the main thing I want them to focus on is the catch. A lot of people over think the movement. I have athletes start out the pull with their knuckles facing the ground and their elbows turned out. This pretty much takes care of the pull.

On another note. How is your training going?

Aloha'

Jim, it would be interesting to see how your guys are doing with this approach. Do you have any videos?

I mostly use Mike Burgener's methods with some twists of my own of course. Mike strongly believes that there's more than one way to skin a cat. He has his methods, you have yours, I have mine, Glenn has his and it's all good.

Training is going well, thanks. It's wintertime which for me is indoor rowing season. Still doing the O-lifts once or twice a week, but with winter gloves on because it's 40 degrees colder in my garage than yours this time of year!

Re: hang snatch

Jim, I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this. The last few weeks, I was really slow on my jump on my snatch. Going back and doing some hang snatches helped me work on that. What would you suggest in that case if not hang snatches?
