You’re the best! Around! Nothing's Gonna Ever Keep ya Down! A self motivational log

I think I win the longest title award with that, haha.

I'm setting up this log here for one reason, mainly for my own motivation. I've been crossfitting on and off for about 9 months, always been a gym rat. Did traditional bodybuilding and then powerlifting stuff since I was in high school...picked up BJJ and Muay Thai in college, and am taking a much needed break from both to have a little fun with crossfit again.

Stats wise I'm 20 years old, and weigh in the low 150s, around 12%BF.

***Goals for September 7 2008***
Mile time reduced from 6:01 to 5:30 - tough but I think it can be done.
Drop in BF% to something under 10% - Just a diet issue, should be ok.
Increase DL from 265 to 295 - a weak area of mine.
Increase non-kipping pullups from 25 to 30.

And most importantly, not miss a single WOD. I tend to dabble in crossfit, this time it's 3 solid months...no dabbling.

WOD 6/7/08:

Five rounds for time of:
135 pound Squat clean, 7 reps
15 Handstand push-ups

as Rx'ed 15:26. My squat clean form was a little off which made this workout infinitely tougher. Around 2 hours later I went and jogged lightly for 2 miles.

Hey George, ya got some decent goals there but it sounds like you're at a good point to get there.

I did that workout today and it was pretty good. No idea what my time since I forgot to ask my roomate for his stopwatch. Squat cleans were not a problem but HPSU were.

Got a question for ya. You bare a striking resemblance to Darrell Evans, a former Major League baseball player my dad ( Don Lowe ) knows/knew well ( grew up with his brother in Altadena, Ca ). Actually, we've lost touch with Darrell over the years, but that's neither here nor there.

Are you related to Darrell at all?

Hey Blair, thanks for the comment...I think the deadlifting is going to be the toughest, because for some reason I just don't have exceptional strength in that lift. In regards to Darrell Evans, sorry...no relation! Although I do see the resemblance when looking the guy up. I think it may be just the angle of the my avatar photo though.

Todays WOD, 6/8/08:
12 pullups
12 burpees

10 rounds for time

This was a tough workout! Much tougher than I thought it would be. I was able to do every set of pullups nonbroken, excluding the last set...so that wasn't really an issue. The issue is BURPEES. Oh my god. I have never really done burpees before, at least never that many...

I could barely do them! which is crazy considering that I thought I was in decent shape. I would knock out the pullups in like 20 seconds, and then take 5 min to do the burpees. My overall time was 32 minutes. Horrible, but humbling.

WOD 6/9/08
"Griff" Hero Workout

For time:
800m Run
400m Run Backwards
800m Run
400m Run Backwards

Time: 14:33.

The backwards runs were tough! When I see workouts like these, named after heroes fighting in the middle east it makes me want to serve...immense respect for those who die for us.

Well, there's the goal you thought would be the hardest, down already! The rest will be cake, right?

Haha, I honestly didn't notice I already made one of my goals until you posted that! Nice...

Now for the other two. Oh, and don't talk to me about cake!

Try to be best
‘Cause you’re only a man
And a man’s gotta learn to take it

Try to believe
Though the going gets rough
That you gotta hang tough to make it

History repeats itself
Try and you’ll succeed

Same here. Watched KK1 and 2 between last week and last night. My roomate retaliated with music of his own after I played it a bit.
