Re: Deadhang muscle up!

I first saw it over @ BeastSkills - awesome muscle up. I'll work my way up to it!
It'll take a bunch of time though.

I recognize that that takes much less strength than a maltese or inverted cross but still. Amazing to watch.
When you can do some weighted pullups and dips with ~1/2-3/4 of your bodyweight on rings you can probably do it like that too.

Got several ones with full lockout deadhang over the weekend. Going to film it today.

PS; my first several MUs were dead hang too - I didn't learn to kip into them until about 2 months later.
That was my experience too. I don't have access to rings, but once I had 10 strong dead-hang pullups, I started working weighted pullups. I got up to 6 reps with 35 lbs (+ bodyweight 155 = 190), and tried a bar muscleup. I was successful during my first session (success on 3 out of about 10 attempts). I hadn't learned to kip yet (still haven't, really), so while there was kicking and struggling, there was no leg swing momentum to start out.

I've seen much more progress since I started repping weighted dead-hang pullups with a strong focus on pulling as far above the bar as possible (til my head hits the ceiling in my case ).

Been CrossFitting since 3/7 of this year - no strength training background (mountain biker/trail runner). Absolutely loving it.

Dude that's awesome!!! I'm not there yet but I can knock MU out using kipping. I'm doing weighted pullups to get me to deadhang MU. GRATS!
