Deadhang muscle up!

Hell yeah!
Finally did my first deadhang muscle up after today's wod of DL and HSPU!

Not full extension at the elbows but zero kip! Took me about 10 seconds to get through transition.
Will try the elbow extension at the bottom tomorrow. I'm fried!

Plus did 409x3 dl and 7x HSPU with no kip (usually I kip on them).
All this at bw of 221!
Very excited. Perfect timing for the SouthEast CF Challenge.

Big Boys Muscle Up - Greg E.'s style - here we come!

Re: Deadhang muscle up!

Awesome job.

Deadhang muscle-up at a body weight of 221 is just sick.

What's a "Big Boys Muscle Up" though? Never heard of that...

So, I guess my question is, once I do get to a dead-hang, zero-kip muscleup (right now I have a slight-pushoff, not-quite-full-extension, moderate-kip MU), what do I have to do to get to a Big Kids MU?

Re: Deadhang muscle up!

Zero kip, full elbow extension at the bottom and top.

That's it.

Re: Deadhang muscle up!

Congrats.

I'm coming for you though (trying to hit +90 lbs muscle up which would put me at 225 lbs).

Re: Deadhang muscle up!

About a year/year and a half. I've been training for a total of 3 years though (out of which a full year was spent on cardio and some machines).
Hard to pin point the CF part. Because when I thought I did CF back in the days - I realize now that it was just childs play.
Rarely do CF by itself. Love mixing it with Strength or O-lift work.
Once I become less ADD about my training - I might add more gymnastics to it.

Steven - that's pretty funny. I guess I better start shooting for the cross then. With the harness it should be pretty doable in a year/18 months.

Funny that I hit this muscle up without much training other than occasional Inverted Row->Transition->Support with my feet on the floor the whole time.
I figured the technique out so the carryover was good enough to do it on the rings.

*i know it's not his per se, but it's the video we know about.
