Training post-polio

I have a friend who is post-polio. She is in her 60s and looking for ways to maintain function as long as possible. Strength training is pretty much ineffective, but has anyone worked with this situation and are there any ways to actually regain any strength in the legs?

Re: Training post-polio

I have found some literature that indicates that strength training is fantastic. Post-polio patients respond well to resistance training well. Intensity can't be at typical CF levels, but training is effective. Still awaiting any personal experiences if any.
