[Insert Clever Log Title Here]

Hey all,

I've been CrossFitting since the beginning of this year and loving it! Let me start off by saying that I'm stuck at my computer 10-12 hours a day. Before this year, I was lucky if I moved my butt two inches to the left or right. I was completely deconditioned. I'm 5'6" and was almost 200 lbs. I used to visit the gym once in awhile but I was by no means athletic, not by any sense of the word.

A coworker of mine told me about CrossFit this year, and it intrigued me. I looked at the sites and thought, "Wow, that looks challenging." I decided to try to do some of the workouts on my own. The first one was rowing, burpees, running. I could only do two of the three rounds. I started looking at several workouts and chose ones I liked.

In May, I made a decision to follow the main site only. This has been great. I have been logging on athleticslog.com. I don't belong to a box or anything but I've worked out with the awesome guys over at CrossFit Marin a few times.

I've lost close to 30 lbs. I'm at 170 lbs. but I've also gotten a lot stronger. My deadlift has gone from 285 to 355. My CF Total is currently 725. I feel like I'm making a lot of strength gains but my stamina is still not even close to where I want it to be.

Today, I did "Helen" and granted I'm a slow runner, but I don't think it should've taken me 18:02 to finish.

Thanks for listening,
--Nick

Re: [Insert Clever Log Title Here]

For time:
25 Walking lunge steps
20 Pull-ups
50 Box jumps, 20 inch box
20 Double-unders
25 Ring dips
20 Knees to elbows
30 Kettlebell swings, 2 pood
30 Sit-ups
20 Hang squat cleans, 35 pound dumbells
25 Back extensions (not a GHD machine, one of those 45 degree things)
30 Wall ball shots, 20 pound ball
3 Rope climb ascents (subbed 45 pullups)

29:50

I felt pretty good up until I got to the kettlebell. I haven't done too many 2 pood swings but it felt good to finish them.

Highlight: I did all the double-unders unbroken. That was awesome!

Re: [Insert Clever Log Title Here]

Weekend:

Saturday:
For time:
Run 800 meters
15 left-legged pistols
15 right-legged pistols
25 sit-ups
12 left-legged pistols
12 right-legged pistols
25 sit-ups
9 right-legged pistols
9 left legged pistols
25 sit-ups
Run 800 meters

Did the pistols unweighted. It was still hard. I finished in 18:50. I felt good on the runs. I set the treadmill to 8.0 and kept that pace for both runs.

Sunday:
21-18-15-12-9-6 and 3 rep rounds of:
Power clean 95 pounds
Sit-ups
Back extensions

16:44. I had a good pace starting out, but as soon as I got to the reps of 9, I slowed way down. This was a fun one though. Did anyone else's back tighten up near the end? Holy crap that hurt.

30 Muscle-ups

4:54 Still don't have muscle ups yet, but I did assisted jumping muscle-ups. My arms are dead.

Also, I helped a buddy of mine (Joe) learn squats and some basic CrossFit stuff today. I had him do the CF Baseline:

500m row
40 squats
30 sit-ups
20 push-ups
10 pull-ups

He finished in 11:39. I think he could be a pretty damn impressive athlete because of his size. He's gonna knock this down easily in a month if he sticks with it.

"Angie":

100 pull-ups
100 push-ups
100 sit-ups
100 squats

29:44. Wow, that was harder than I thought it was going to be. Obviously, the first half was a lot rougher!

Re: [Insert Clever Log Title Here]

Complete as many rounds in 20 minutes as you can of:
Row 250 meters
Sumo deadlift highpull 95 pounds, 21 reps
Pull-ups 15 reps

4 rounds + 250m row + 8 SDLHP

Wow, that one was tough. The SDLHPs killed my pullups, not to mention the lungs.
