Going on vacation

I'm going to be gone from Wednesday to the following Monday on vacation. No internet, and no gym. I know I could have the WOD's texted to me, but I won't have any gym equipment there. What WOD's would you recommend for the days I'm gone?

Re: Going on vacation

There are some threads out there with bodyweight/hotel-appropriate WODs, I believe. I spent some time on the road over the last few months, and here are some of the workouts I did with absolutely NO equipment.

[*]100 burpees for time (my favorite)
[*]Tabata sqauts, pushups, situps, burpees/mountain climbers
[*]Angie/Barbara, subbing Supermans or good mornings for pullups
[*]Run 5k, 10k, etc.
[*]Get a jump rope for 5 bucks at wal-mart (you need one for crossfit anyways, and it's small and light to pack), do Annie (another personal fav of mine)

Those are just some ideas. Search around, I know there's plenty more. It was liberating for me to realize that I could crossfit anywhere, regardless of space or equipment, and had zero excuses for not working out. Enjoy your vacation!

I recommend going on vacation.

If doing a WOD feels right, then pick some stuff that also feels right and make your own WOD right then and there.

If working out is relaxing and fun to you in the framework of your vacation, then do it...but don't plan ahead on how you need to get in your WOD's while on vacation. Relax and actually be on vacation! Your fitness won't disappear. In fact, with a six-day break, you may actually find your performance improves.

Re: Going on vacation

I understand your "want" to workout. Like previously said your performance will improve with a good amount of rest if you've been hitting it hard for a few months. I'm having to take a week off this week because of overtraining. However, I do not get a vacation as well. You are lucky. I would try doing some sprints. Or see how fast you can crank out 100 burpees and pull-ups. Use some creativity and make up a couple fun workouts that you enjoy doing. (your on vacation)

Re: Going on vacation

Depending on where you're vacationing, beach volleyball, swimming in the pool/ocean, skiing, hiking, etc. are all good workouts

Then throw them

Re: Going on vacation

Depending on how hard you work out during normal training I might not work out at all. If it's only a few days, just take a break from the gym. Last year was my first year doing crossfit. I started in February, and worked at it non-stop until July when I went on vacation with my family for six days.

I didn't lift one weight, and only did two very easy runs on the beach. When I got back to my regular grind I was surprised to see that I felt much stronger than when I left. I will never be afraid to take a short break from training again.

Re: Going on vacation

Thanks for the replies. I have been off for a week due to upper respiratory infection....a.k.a....the crud. I'm well now, and started back to work tonight. I'm about to go crazy, and if I miss the end of this week and the weekend I'll go nuts. I haven't visited the links that were posted, but I'm going to. I'm pretty new to crossfit, but I am addicted.
