Box jumps: how low do you go?

Hi,

Been a while,

I was wondering how long do you go, when doing a box jump? Going back down should i stop at a 90 degrees knee angle ? More or less?

Any tips?

Just pace yourself. They're deceptive destroyers.

You're overthinking it. You can start on your next jump the moment you hit the ground.

Sorry i meant low not long

Well on top of the box we should do a full hip extension, so that's why i was thinking about the down position. A full squat position is way harder then jumping as soon as you hit the ground.

Go to the main site on Thursday there were two videos about box jumps. You should watch them.

If you were doing a vertical jump for max height you wouldn't go into a full squat, right? With a box jump it's similar--a quick down and up, pretty much the same thing you'd do on a dip/drive for a push press or a jerk.

Also, when you come down off the box try to land on the ball of your feet then bounce back up (pulling your knees up slightly to get your feet onto the box).

This uses the natural elasticity in your Achilles as a spring for when you land. Also, to break down your movement for the box jump and prep for it, check out mobility wod. WFS

@eric montogomery i didn't knew that.

@steven indeed valuable information in that piece of VID but they don't talk about the "take-off"

btw: i do the box jumps as in the vid, but i had a discussion about the "deep" position pro's con's and why not?
