Re: How to eat clean without cleaning out your wallet

It can vary a lot on location too, for example in my city porterhouse steak is cheaper per kilogram than bananas.

Personally, I've found eating clean to be cheaper than my previous lifestyle.
In my lunchbreak whilst at work, getting a meal at a fastfood place costs about $11 here vs going to the supermarket, getting a couple of slices of meat, 600mL carton of milk, a couple of fruits is around $6
Has also resulted in less (none) days off work from being ill.

Another source for certain foods are online vendors. Things like nuts, coconut flakes, almond flour, etc. can be found on Amazon, iherb.com, and others with free shipping for much less, especially if you buy in bulk.

Great read, gonna have to experiment with this now that it's summer!

Whole squid is a little intimidating, but hey might as well try it...

I suggest brisket as previously stated. I recently picked up 8 lbs for 17 dollars, cooked it for 12 hours @ 225 in the oven with a chili/cayenne/cumin/mustard dry rub. Came out great and is a good amount of food for 4-5 days.

Deli meat is typically so chemically treated/altered that I'd say milk would almost be a better choice unless you're getting higher quality deli meat.

I get a 4lb Turkey breast at Costco and cut it myself, no preservatives, and better meat than any deli brand I have tried.
