The topic says it all. Am I doing something wrong, or will I adapt to it? I'm about 6'2'', and gripping pinkies-to-collars on an olympic bar.

neil,

i'm 6'2" also, and have some pain in the beginning, similar to the pain that i had when i started racking the bar on front squats. eventually it just went away. as part of my warm-up i do a few sets of overhead squats with something light like 65 lbs. i think using a light weight often will help in alleviating the wrist pain.

Same here (except that I'm the midget of this group at 6'1").

Neill, are you keeping some tension in the grip and wrist? That might help.

Neill,

I have that same problem. You may have been born with the heart of a Lion, and the wrists of a Piano player, just like me!

Ben:

Hilarious. I literally laughed out loud.

Brian:

It's funny that you mention that, because I just tried that and it worked. Rather than thinking of the bar resting in my hands, I think about having tension in my hands and forearms similar to a press, and it feels a little better.

Neill,

Glad you liked it! Honestly, though I have to wrap my wrists whenever I do Cleans, or overhead squats. Anything that puts stress on my wrists.
