Re: Crossfit in the Coast Guard

I've heard of one or two USCG Tactical Law Enforcement Team guys mention CrossFit was looked at as a physical fitness program when I was in the Navy back in 2007.

Re: Crossfit in the Coast Guard

I started CrossFit about 3 1/2 months ago. I'm stationed at ATC Mobile, but I go to CrossFit Mobile, a civilian box about 5 minutes from the base. ATC managed to find money to put several people through a level 1 cert before I got stationed here last year, but most of them seem to have either lost interest or transferred. Nobody runs organized workouts here.

There are a few people at the base who do WODs on their own on base, but "on your own" WODs just aren't my cup of tea. I still have a lot of work to do before I can even begin to think of myself as proficient in CrossFit movements, and I think I would just be injured all the time working out without coaching. Besides, although I have a lot of love for my fellow Coasties, I'm having a great time working out with an awesome group of people I would probably have never met otherwise.

It's good to hear from you Jaime... It's a shame to hear the program has kind of lost steam there... I have some fam & friends in Mobile... Do you follow main site programming or do you make up your own workouts?

Re: Crossfit in the Coast Guard

Lets revive the thread.

Key West CG is alive and well with a new facility.

Anyone know if Tracen Cape May has any good equipment / bumper plates?

Re: Crossfit in the Coast Guard

When did Key West CG open up? I was there early last year and couldn't find any boxes.

Re: Crossfit in the Coast Guard

There's a group of us that crossfit on the HEALY. We use the helo hangar since we never actually have a helo on board.

Anyone crossfit at Sector Charleston? I'm headed there this summer.

We are not affiliated, but there is a group who runs workouts during the lunch hour at Station Portland, Oregon.
