I don't know all the results at this time, but I understand that Catherine Imes put up 200 reps with the 36# bell to become the first US woman to attain Master of Sport ranking. GS permits only one hand switch and no resting the bell on the floor.

Outstanding!

I was there, and yes, She did receive master of sports ranking. Very impressive numbers by all. Valery Fedorenko, a Russian GS competitor and Master of sports, was there as well. It was definitely a treat watching him execute flawless technique in both the snatches and Jerks.

Thanks All.

It was a great competition. I've been involved in GS for around 2.5 years. This was my 3rd nationals.

Valery is always impressive. His Jerk technique is the most efficient I've seen (His PR I believe is 132 in 10 Minutes) This is the 3rd time I've seen him. People probably don't realize that he probably didn't "train" for this competition.

While the competitor base is quite a bit smaller than it was 2 years ago, the skill of the competitors has greatly impoved.

Peter Nasset competed 2 years ago in a meet in Minnesota. I counted/judged his set. He only went a few minutes with each lift. This time, he did nearly 10 minutes on the snatches and jerks with the 24kg bells. He is 58 years old. David Elkins did 10 minute snatch set with the 24kg bell and he is 60.

My friend Lorraine Patten is 50. Last year she did 80 reps. This year she did 126 and was only 4 shy of a CMS ranking. She went a full 10 minutes. She did 6.5 minutes with her right arm (75 reps) because her left arm is injured.

There were more Masters competitors (people over 40) than any other category/division.

Just goes to show what is possible.

It was a great meet with great people competing.
