October-November Nutrition/MetCon Log

I am starting this log to track my nutrition and endurance activities for October and possibly some of November. My other log tracks my 5/3/1 + MetCon activities, and while I am putting the strength emphasis of hold for 1-2 months I thought this would be a good opportunity to try out a diet log (and post my endurance-type metcons here as well, since they don't really fit into a log about 5/3/1 lifting).

Nutritional feedback is welcome, but keep in mind:

1) I am not a Paleo or zone eater (I've done very strict Paleo with negative results, and Zone is just a way of tracking portions) but I do keep it mostly clean (sour dough bread being my last holdout really, with the occasional brown rice)

2) I am intentionally trying to run a small calorie deficit -- how small or big, no idea, hoping for some feedback here as I am not experienced at cutting weight

3) I am a big guy (255-260 pound range) with about 30 pounds of fat on me

Exercise feedback is welcome as well, but I've had pretty good success with what I've been doing (gone from 200lb LBM out of 273lb weight, to 225+ LBM out of 260lb weight) in the last <year -- the caveat being that I've been doing a strength bias program, whereas for the next ~6 weeks I am trying to ramp my speed/endurance up.

5 minute rest

4 rounds:
Run 1 minute for max effort, rest for 4 minutes.


Nutrition (in order ate)

PWO shake: 440 calories / 68g protein

Oatmeal and milk: 230 calories / 9g protein

Turkey and Chili lunch: 560 calories / 46g protein

Chicken Caesar Pita dinner*: 380 calories / 42g protein

Pre-sleep supplements: 270 calories / 34g protein

Total: 1,880 calories / 199g protein


*I am not counting calories from the raw organic spinach / tomato / greens because I have no idea of the portion weight, and my understanding is that caloric impact from such foods is minimal to nil.

Ketosis paleo made me sluggish / constantly tired, I felt bloated, I had headaches, and I was grumpy / grouchy all the time. Small price to pay for not losing a single ounce of weight while following Paleo for several weeks, right?

Lamb, with Olive and Feta garnish: 890 calories / 108g protein

Turkey and Chili lunch: 560 calories / 46g protein

Steak and Salad dinner: 720 calories / 156g protein

pre-sleep supplements: 270 calories / 34g protein


Total: 2,440 calories / 344g protein
