Same here, Pete!

I do a lot of the cooking and baking for my family, but I've gotten good about letting other people do the quality control for cookies. Every once in a while, though, I have to have one just to make sure

My recent progress:
  • I've been really good about staying off the cereals, pastas, and rice (I used to survive on just those three).
  • As long as I bake it myself, I have a slice or two of bread a few times a week.
  • Peanut butter on apple slices is a great dessert.
  • Meat, veggies, and fruit for me all the way.
  • This combined with IF has gotten me to 165# (my target was 175#).

If an old carb crackhead like I am can do it, so can anyone. Hang in there guys!

Re: No Grains/No Sugars Support Group!!

I guess I can include myself here too.

I had one homemade bun today with some of the burgers I bbqed.

Other than that, outside of last Sunday, I've done very well with staying away from the sugar/grains.

Not sure about the results though. Obviously I'm less bloated, but I checked my weight and it had actually gone up. I'm willing to be patient though, because I feel a lot better.

Would be nice if the scale would start moving backwards for once though.

Re: No Grains/No Sugars Support Group!!

For anyone who is paleo, going paleo or doing a paleo challenge, I have written a Palo Cookbook called Paleolicious to help raise money for FGB4. There are more than 60 recipes (from Spinach Summer Omelet, to Carrot Cake to Seared Sake Scallops), the book is going to be in full color and wire bound. If you want to see a sample recipe, more information and an advanced ordering form, check out my website DELETED

100% of proceeds go to FGB4, you get a great book and support 2 great causes!

Evan the book and the causes are great. Is the site secure? BTW, just had second round of prostate biopsies---again no positives.

I've done the paleo for about 3 months. Dropped 15 lbs and waist size by 3 inches. Curiously, my metabolism has changed. I needed to take some time off from exercise because of the biopsy (the board doesn't need to know the details of this!). During that time, my weight dropped. This is the second time recently that I've noticed this. I don't measure food. So perhaps I'm just less hungry when not exercising and eating less?

Hi Pat,

The book is great, I'm not quite sure why my wife said I was the one who wrote it when she posted her initial messaegs, I only took the pictures, but yes, the site is secure, it goes through googlesites and google checkout for any cc purchases. We're doing the advance copies right now so we can get an estimate of demand before we send it to the printers. So far we're doing really well and hope to meet her goal of 100+ books to support the FGB causes.

If you need any more details, PM me, I'll be checking that more often now that she's posted here. I think they deleted her original website because you're not supposed to advertise here and she didn't know that.

Anyway, good luck with the weight loss and if you need a book to add to the shelves, my wife has put together a great one (with some good photos if I may say so )

Re: No Grains/No Sugars Support Group!!

this is slightly off topic. Just had most wonderful breakfast. Sauteed some roasted peppers, sun dried tomatoes, spinach, minced garlic, and eggs. One big scramble. Awesome.

Re: No Grains/No Sugars Support Group!!

just wanted to share a milestone and bump the thread. I am now down 20 lbs on the Paleo. Probably could have reached here sooner had I been more consistent. But I'm here and now starting to reformulate goals. If I were younger (I'll be 65 at the end of this month), I would want a more ripped physique. I don't care so much about this now. Perhaps taking more weight off would just be better for my knees?

Re: No Grains/No Sugars Support Group!!

Why doesn't anyone post on this anymore?

I'm having cravings all of a sudden and it's midnight which would make it even worse to indulge...

ugh. I'm gonna go to bed.

What happened to everyone?

Re: No Grains/No Sugars Support Group!!

Hey Lionel --

I try to squelch those latenight cravings with some bacon or peanut butter.

Keep at it on the paleo. I'm becoming a bit more strict myself. Today my feedings consisted of
  • apples
  • eggs
  • bacon
  • steak
  • green beans
  • (and because life is short) a beer and a spoon of ice cream.
