Re: I got a muscle-up ... now what?

I find taping my wrist/lower palm important too, in addition to chalking. I get nasty blisters there otherwise.

I know this isn't easy for everyone, but if you can find some wood rings to play on it will make a big difference. The elite rings are great- but quite slippery.

Real wood rings and chaulk= super glue.

Re: I got a muscle-up ... now what?

Thanks for all the tips guys. Steven, I couldn't see you video for some reason, but I sort of understand where you're coming from. I also think the ability to get the false grip while suspended will help.

But in the end, practice, chalk, taped/scuffed rings in that order will help a lot.

Does everyone else tape their rings, or is that bad for some reason?

Same as taping a bar. Can tear up your hands; it's an extremist approach to the grip issue. Depending on your hand toughness and how much you use the rings (and what sort of rings you have), it might or might not still be a decent idea.

You can tape the plastic rings and get a much better grip off them. Scuffing them works as well.

If you want to invest in some grips that is another way to get a great hold - and then you can learn to not use them. Grips sure do help in the kip ups - but this may not be viewed as a pure CF approach concerning the moves. Gymnastic crips will help a great deal and can be found rather cheaply on line.

For the video you need the most recent DivX codec wfs

As for taping the rings you don't have to. Honestly, I think that chafes the wrists more than regular rings. I say just grin and bear it and get calluses there. I rarely tear up my wrists anymore.
