Without failure, whenever I start a workout of the day, the first exercise requiring weights (e.g. thrusters, pullups, bench press; not running) slams me with a massive headache which starts on the left side of the middle of my neck and runs up into the left side of my brain to the front of my head. The headache is very painful and lasts for a few minutes, seemingly receding back the way it came. I can usually continue the workout once the headache is gone.

Has anybody experienced something like this?

I'm looking into seeing my doctor, massage therapy, chiropractic and accupuncture in that order. Just wondering if anybody experienced any healing from a similar problem.

Thanks.

Brendan

Should have edited that message... This is not a problem that occurs "without failure"... but definitely more often than not.

Brendan,

Sounds like a myofascial trigger point in one of your cervical muscles, possibly the upper trapezius. Check with your doctor to rule out any red flags.
