Wrist Injury

So, a few months ago I simply slipped and fall back on my hand the wrong way. The pain I got from it starts at the top of my wrist and goes down about 3 inches or so, just below where the thumb connects whenever I applied pressure on my bent wrist. A good example would be trying to do a push up from the ground, and the straighter my arm got, the more it hurts. Initially, it was pretty bad (could barely use the hand) but after a month or 6 weeks the pain was minimal so I started working out on it again. Unfortunately the pain started getting worse pretty quickly and I've since stopped using the hand in things that involve a bent wrist. The pain is getting lighter and all (only when I put pressure on my wrist bent at 90 degrees) and i still cannot do pushups or related things on it. Should I bother seeing a specialist about it or just don't use it for as long as it takes? While it doesn't hurt, is it still alright to do things like dead lift that don't involve bending the wrist at all (things that use the hand but don't hurt)?

Thanks

Re: Wrist Injury

I would get an X-ray.

You might've had a colles fracture or something. Especially if it hurts during use...

Re: Wrist Injury

google snuff box tenderness and see if that's where your pain is... then, as Steven suggested, consider getting an x-ray and praying you didn't fracture your scaphoid.

Re: Wrist Injury

Thanks for the advice. Guess I'll go get it xrayed in the next week or 2. Ugh.

Re: Wrist Injury

If the x-ray doesn't turn up anything, get an MRI. I have the exact kind of pain from an auto accident that I had six months ago. Just found out for sure it was torn ligaments a few weeks ago. Having ligament reconstruction this month (fingers crossed). Good luck with it and hopefully that isn't what is wrong with your wrist.
