Shoulder popping out of place with anything overhead

I have been having this problem with my left shoulder popping out of place with anything over head. It's not dislocated and never has been but when ever I go over head with anything (press, thrusters, push jerk, etc.) it happens not all the time but about 70%. It doesn't hurt but it dose pose a problem with me and going up in weight with anything over head because I don't really want to be trying Fran as rx'd and have this happen. Whats weird is this never happens on 1 rep days infact my shoulder strenght has went up from 125 being my 1 rep to 125 being my three rep. It only seems to happen on met-cons does anyone else have this problem?

If it never happens with 1RMs, it's probably not a strength or structural issue. I'd suspect a form issue: when you start pumping out lots of reps for metcons, you get sloppy. Got video?

Re: Shoulder popping out of place with anything overhead

Justin-It started in Oct. when I did the cf wod with 21 press@65lb and back ext. I was good the first round but about the thrid round on the 10th rep I got the weight half way up then it just popped out.Like said it didn't hurt just knew it wasn't good so I racked it then took a sec. to make sure I didn't tear anything then finished up just was very careful. After that it just would happen randomly sometimes when I go up sometimes when I try to lock out at the top.

Steven-I thought that it might be that to so I have been using a band and doing PT exercise for my rotator cup. I just find it to be weird that my shoulders are getting stronger but this is still happening with lighter weight.

Re: Shoulder popping out of place with anything overhead

Dynamic exercises if you don't keep your shoulder tight can be as hazardous as heavy weights.

Re: Shoulder popping out of place with anything overhead

So Steven what would be your advice really for this what I have been doing is just going at the WOD as hard as I can but instead of just ignoring if my shoulder feels tired not worrying about form just stopping racking the bar and taking a few seconds then going at it untill I finished the amount of reps with good form.
Also whats is Sublaxing mean exactly sorry I haven't had a chance to google it yet.

If your shoulders are imbalanced (anterior is much stronger than posterior with more musculature) I would definitely add in some more horizontal pulling.

But overall yeah... try to see why it's coming out. Is it because your shoulders are getting very tired and you're going too fast for them to decelerated the bar and then it pops?

Keep strengthening your RC too.

If this continues maybe see a doc. Some people have natural laxity in ligaments and stuff so it's easier for them to pop stuff out of place.
