Larabars in the zone & popcorn..

Morning,

I'm new to Crossfit (about 3 weeks) and the zone (1 week)

I'm curious about Larabar's in the zone.

I tried a zone perfect bar but the sugar was a bit high for me. I'm trying to kick sugar and this just had too much got all my old cravings back.

Does anyone fit Larabar's into snacks on the zone. Should I be concerned about the sugar levels in the dried fruits?

Finally popcorn. I love popcorn. According to the zone chart, for a 2 block snack, 1 block of carbs is 2 cups of popcorn. So I could have 4 cups of popcorn? That's a big bowl.

Does anyone see any issues with popcorn in the zone?

I am trying to cut out all grains but popcorn is a weakspot for me.
Thanks

Make popcorn your "cheat" and don't have it often. That is how I would Zone it if I were you. Corn and soybean oil just have so many issues, I'm not going to go there on that.

But if you must, make it a rare cheat and go all out not worrying about blocks.

Well I'm able to cut it out completely.
It's no issue. I just really like the stuff.

I don't want to detriment my zone success because of popcorn.

I'd rather save my cheat for a big sushi meal or something :-)

Zone perfect is just a candy bar. I went through a phase I being determined to find a bar that would work and had quality ingredients. I ended up finding one at whole foods I can' think of the brand but it was in the Natural living with the supplements the nutrient balance was close and the ingredients were realy top notch. It was called Greens+protein. It cost like 3.00 for a 2 and a half block meal not cheap. I eat real food now with the occational 3 block whey protein scoop PWO.

Re: Larabars in the zone & popcorn..

larabars are pretty good, if you have like 2oz of jerky you have a pretty close to perfect zone meal...maybe a little extra fat but that never hurt anybody, most larabars are like 25g of C give or take 2; less than 5g of protein and on average 15g of fat... so eating one plus 2 oz of jerky would put you at a 2-3block meal ignoring the extra fat

Popcorn is my biggest cheat. I never try to fit it into my Zoning, because when I eat popcorn.... well... I eat a lot of it (at movies). It's no good, no matter which way you cut it, so I agree with George. Just minimize the times you eat it, and consider it a cheat. The occasional cheat won't hurt your overall success.
