Complete 'plug and play' for Zone
My searches have not produced any results in looking for something similar to [WFS] www.paleoplan.com for the Zone. For those not familiar with Paleo Plan, it's a complete plan for doing Paleo; including meal plan, shopping list, and recipes. Anyone know such a product for Zone?

CrossFit Journal Issue 21: Zone Meal plans. (WFS). As for the recipes, I would search the CF Journal and just pick off what you like. Or search Google for a Zone blog, I am sure there are hundreds out there.

Re: Complete 'plug and play' for Zone
Googled "zone meal plan" and got a ton of results. Including Joey's link. Perhaps here's a start (and/or the book)
http://www.zonediet.com/zone-classic-recipes (wfs) Perhaps I don't understand the question, but to me, using the zone with a paleo sources wouldn't be all that difficult .... once you got past figuring out how to block out meals. I would think using a straight up zone shopping list and meal plan then cross out/modify it's sources. e.g. What's for my X block lunch ? Zone Meal Plan - X block chicken - X block quinoa (or bread etc) - X block peanuts But that won't fly with paleo zone. So you'd have to change sources. Change the carb and update your shopping list. - X block chicken - X block spinach (carrots, squash, what-have-you) - X Block avocado/almond/olive etc To me, the shopping lists and meal plans are a good place to start (for a short-term, like a week or two until following someone else's list gets frustrating and too time consuming). It doesn't become easy until you own it. Take the initiative and create your own. |

Re: Complete 'plug and play' for Zone
Thanks guys. We provide a link to the CrossFit Journal article in our New Client Handout. And yes, Clint, you are correct, it's not THAT hard. But one of the challenges with getting a client to fix their diet is changing the momentum. The best way to do that is to keep removing obstacles. That's the great thing about PaleoPlan; it's essentially, "go buy this. cook it like this. get results." Maybe I should do it myself. Oh good; another project...

Re: Complete 'plug and play' for Zone
Have you seen the whole30stuff ? Like the paleo plan they have a pretty simple formula of eat like this and here's a shopping list.
http://whole9life.com/2012/08/the-whole30-program/ (wfs) That is/was a blue print for a eating challenge we did. Still not zone though. Even though it's not that hard in the end, (but i don't do it, but I track portion with paleo), zone is a bit overwhelming and frustrating in the beginning - trying to piece the blocks together and how to create meals. My aha moment was to get the protein first, then add the other blocks. |

Re: Complete 'plug and play' for Zone
Been looking at Zone, as I am a fan of Paleo. I just look at counting blocks and think back to my weight watchers days. Too difficult to work out. But alas I think that it may be worth a try one day. Maybe give it a week.

I stumbled across this blog awhile back. Its WFS and the guy gives different recipes or paleo meals in Zone block quantities.
