I am hoping to find a good coach to teach me proper form for all of the basic lifts, but where I live in Harrisonburg, VA there is no Crossfit affiliate, and no real gyms to speak of. I have seen posts with links to national organizations that I also checked out (forget the name offhand) but again, no luck. I am over two hours from DC, and almost as far from Richmond. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. I want to start off on the right foot to stay healthy! Thanks!

You might have some luck if you started emailing any of the trainers for this program to set up some private instruction. If you are a student, I see Olympic Lifts listed as a syllabus heading for KINESIOLOGY 425.

In other words, someone out there in your neck of the woods probably knows a thing or two about these lifts.

Thanks Matt! I'll see if anyone there can recommend a local coach.

Rod, I purchased "Beginning and Intermediate Olympic Weightlifting" by Jim Schmitz from
It is a really good place to start. Jim is clear and concise in his metodology on the lifts and easy to understand. The video, while low quality, does a good job of showing the viewer what they need to see. It's not a coach, but it's a good place to start while you are still trying to find one. Good Luck. I will be joining the hunt in a few months.

Good info. Looking for the same thing (along with KB instruction) in my neck of the woods (Waldorf, MD.)

Closest help appears to be CF D.C. and Inferno.

Also try East Coast Gold Weightlifting. They have clubs/coaches all over the eastern seaboard.
