WOD's Only?

I'm sure it's been asked many times before but I can't find it for the life of me.

I've been weight training for years but this intrigues me.
Question is:
Do I just do the WOD's or do I do them in addition to my normal weight training?
Thanks

Re: WOD's Only?

To start with, just do the WODs. Chances are many of them will be much more challenging than they appear. Eventually you may want to add in more heavy work, tweak your program, etc. But for now, just do the WODs.

And PLEASE for your own health/safety scale any workout involving pullups, air squats, or GHD situps way down until you know your limits. Many a newcomer has experienced severe DOMS or wound up in the hospital with Rhabdo, usually due to high reps of these movements.

Re: WOD's Only?

They are just doing the WODs and have dialed in nutrition.

How bad off was I that I never asked this question?

Re: WOD's Only?

For the first bit I was missing out on the warmup. In case you didnt see that it adds a whole new level. As some say the warm up is more of a workout than some people do all day for a regular workout. http://www.crossfit.com/cf-info/faq.html#General7 work safe kid safe all in all safe

OK: holy cow... being new to CF and being a Sp.Ed. and wanting to rush in I totaly did not get the "warm up" and have been doing the normal "stretch here stretch there ok I'm g2go" warm up... they are right, 30 to 45 pull ups in a warm up is FAR more than most people can do, less yet do for a warm up.

Re: WOD's Only?

Yeah, after I got the first reply I scrolled down and saw previous posts so thanks.
I did yesterday's WOD today minus the warmup. Felt a little cockey so i did some alternating db presses and shrugs, then rode the bike. starting to feel a little tingly. Oh yeah, and on the first press i forgot to move my head out of the way and drilled my chin with the bar resulting in a chipped tooth. Ego took a shot.
