Sagging skin after losing weight

I have lost about 110 lbs thus I have quite a bit of loose skin. How does this affect my body fat percentage and what can I do about it other than surgery.
I'm 6'1" 225 lbs and 51 years of age. Any suggestions.

skin's elastic. when people lose or gain weight slowly, your skin generally can keep up with it. when you lose or gain weight quickly, your skin can't keep up any more and you'll get stretch marks or loose skin.

i know that over time, your skin _should_ recover...but because you lose elasticity with age, you might be stuck with surgery as your only option. I'd try lotions or oils with a lot of vitamin e in it, or drinking a healthy amount of water (8 glasses a day). not sure on how much it'll help, but it certainly won't hurt!

and congrats on the 110 pound loss! that's awesome!

Your skin's ability to "bounce back" also depends on how long it had been stretched as well as how old you are. I doubt after losing 110lbs that it'll ever get back to normal.

After 4 kids my tummy skin is never gonna be "tight" without a tummy tuck.

congrats on the weight loss! Unfortunately at 51yo im afraid you are most likely stuck with surgery... Luckily new procedures are quick, same day, and let you get back to ADL faster.

Re: Sagging skin after losing weight

At 24 and going from being 6'4" and 270 with a 40 inch waist to hopefully 230 and whatever size waist I'm wondering if I'll still have that same problem?

Re: Sagging skin after losing weight

It should not be a problem. I went from a 46 waist to a 36 waist and am much older thus I have the problem.
