crossfit games 2008

i seen the 2008 crossfit games will be in july. how are the events picked? are they picked in advance so everyone competing can train for them?
i am curious.
i cant run and do a few other movements due to injuries, so flying out to california from st louis would be a waste of time if the few events that will be in the compitition are the ones i cant do.
it looked like there was a trail run at the 2007 games. just curious as to how the events are picked.
thanks steve kaspar st louis, mo

Yep, randomly. Hopper style. The best thing to do is train whatever it is that your worst at, and continue to until your good at EVERYTHING!

Crossfit is awesome.

How does one compete? Is it even useful for me to try? I'm curious if there are novice levels, or what kind of categories there are. Not that I'd be any good, but you never know.

Re: crossfit games 2008

If i recall correctly its $50 to compete $10 to spectate. There arent categories (besides male, female) that I'm aware of though. I say compete...what do you lose?

Re: crossfit games 2008

Ok, so do I end up getting a flyer, or will it be posted in the store, or what? I'm definitely interested in making a fool of myself in front of other monsters, as it will be about the 1 year anniversary for me from starting crossfit. My buddy would be interested too. We'll look at it and see.

Im sure as the date nears there will be more discussion on the specifics ...how to purchase, meet-up etc. We still got 8 months or so of training time! YES! Ill need it .

Re: crossfit games 2008

Michael,

Last year the CF game coincided with my 1 year CF Anniv. I was vervous as hell going to the games and knowing that I wouldnt be at the same level. The great people here convinced me to go and Im glad that they did. I ended up 2nd to last in the standings but I had the time of my life! My hands were a bit ****ed at me (see my avatar to the left) but it was an awesome experience.

Last year there were no divisions other than male and female, however, they did allow scaling of the weights. They took that into consideration when they tallied the points but it was available nonetheless.

Ive already started looking for flights

Re: crossfit games 2008

Dangit.

I just saw the dates. I wanted to go out there next year - if not as a competitor, then as a spectator... but I will have just returned from a 3 week vacation. So if the vacation actually happens, there's no chance I'd be able to take off more time right away.

Oh well.
I hope there are good videos posted again.

Best of luck to all of you who compete!
