Re: Fedor vs. Silva (BigFoot)

Yeah it's going to be broadcasted on Showtime at 10 ET.

As for the other fight in the HGP, I got Kharitonov beating Arlovski.

I REALLY like Fedor and would be sad to see him go. I sure wish he would drop the chub and fight at 205; especially in the UFC. [sigh] Unfortunately Finkel-f--k won't let that happen.

I agree, MMA is to competitive now a-days for a 230lber uncut to be successful against guys who are cutting to 265.

His skill level used to be enough to overcome the size difference, but with the increased talent pool in todays MMA even though he has more skill than his opponents, it is not enough to make up for the size difference. This is similar to why BJ Penn has not been successful at 170 for a while now.

That said, Fedor cut down to 205 would be a scary mother. Don't know if that is something he is willing to do though....

Totally agree with you on your points. In the early days, he could get by fighter bigger opponents who weren't as skilled but these days the fighters aren't merely bigger but also more skilled than they were years ago. Rarely do fighters come into the cage without cutting these days so that makes it harder for a fighter that doesn't cut weight.

I doubt Fedor would decide to cut but I would love to see him cut some weight and go into 205.
