Got disqualified and had a double under relapse on the first day, writing it up now. Won everything today but not enough to get into the finals.

Re: A Bears Tale

26th & 27th January London Throwdown

Complete tale of 2 days here, first day was my worst ever competitively , second day was perfect.

Event 1

1000m Row - 3.12 pr 9th

Event 2

10 min amrap:

12 UP downs
18 Swings 24k (strict inversion)
24 unbroken doulbe unders - 3 plus 24

Had a total double under breakdown, felt crowded, got tense and took 4 minutes to get an unbroken set of 24. Went mad, threw rope and head butted pull up rig.

Event 3

Max Handstand hold - 5.6 seconds (got 20 in practice 5 mins earlier)

Part B: 3 x Snatch, plus 3 x Clean in 8 minutes
Due to rule that if you miss you cannot re-try everyone went very light to be safe.

65k/67.5k/70k snatch
85k/92.5k/97.5k Clean all easy - 14th ish

Event 4

Shuttle Run 60m up, 30 back, 30 finish - disqualified

Had massive row with head judge, would not tell me exactly why, apparently I blocked or infringed guy in lane next to me so I asked him and he said he was also disqualified but blocking me, which neither happened, we went to judge but they did not listen so I told them they were trying ot make a mark on a competition they did not qualify for.

DAY ONE OVER 16th place....

DAY two

Event 5

3 Overheads Squats 55k
3 Sprawls
3 Overhead Squats
6 Sprawls
3 OHS
9 Sprawls
3 OHS
12 Sprawls
3 OHS 55k
15 Sprawls
4 Split Jerk 55k
4 Squat Bar jumps
4 Split Jerk
8 SBJ
4 Split Jerk
12 SBJ
4 Split Jerk
16 SBJ
4 Split Jerk
20 SBJ - 8.59 - 1st place by 2.30

Event 6

90 Wall Balls 10k
70 KB Snatch 24k
50 Over box jumps 24"
30 Toes to bar
5 Muscle Ups - 14.34 - 1st place by 3 minutes

So gutted, missed the finals by 1 place, totally due to getting disqualified and being a muppet at skipping.

These two workouts are more what I do, Crossfit, day one was a bit of a skills day.

The last 3 workouts were also made for me and looking at the times I would of won if I had not been disqualified

12-9-6
Deadlift 140k
HSPU deficit one plate

Winner got 8.49, I would hope for sub 3.

Re: A Bears Tale

Ah, were you competing in masters? I had been checking for you in the main bunch.

Great 1k time mate. Shame about the doubles, and the forehead on the rig.

Bet the diss to the judge went down well?

Nah not too well with the judges, would of been fine if they took the time (more than 5 seconds) to explain where and why the infringement took place, I paid to enter and put a lot of effort into getting ready for some twat to tell me im out of the game without any explanation.

Final 3 events were made for me, just watched them, gutted.

Re: A Bears Tale

Lousy luck there, Scott. Good to get a day like that out of the way. Hit the quals as a steady Eddie and avoid a recurrene of the DU fiasco, and you'll be on your way to California. That other stuff won't come out of the hopper for the Games.

Re: A Bears Tale

Great work and bad luck Scott. You obviously would have dominated there by your performance on the second day. I couldn't help but laugh at you throwing the jump rope and headbutting things.

Thanks guys, I knew I could not get to the final on Saturday night so mission was to win both the morning workouts which was more than achieved.

On a Crossfit amrap / metcon I have Europe beat in my age category. In the open double unders will not be a problem due to being able to have as many goes as possible.

Been told the more I miss, the wider my arms go and hence the more I miss, happens when I get tight and wound up in competition, felt crowded on Saturday with other judges too close and when its not going well those things just escalate. That and knowing I 'Miss in competition'
