Re: A Bears Tale

4 March 2012

Open WOD 12:2

10 minutes to:

30 Snatches 75lb
30 Snatches 135lb
30 Snatches 165lb - Score 62 reps

One more than last time. Got the 135lb done in 6:55 all easy, then hit the first 165lb, then miss then 2nd. After that had to try and squat snatch and had 3 close misses forwards. If that 3rd bar was 155lb I reckon I had 80 reps on that workout, just that little bit too heavy to muscle.

3 rounds for time: (as 12:2 is easy if you cannot get 75k)

30 Push ups
30 Box JUmps 24"
30 Pull Ups
30 KB Swings 24k - 17.38

Punishment for being **** at heavy snatching.

Nice work Scott. One more rep will definitely improve your standing alot in that workout.

Given up looking at my standing Jesse, its not a true representation of how I stack up so I am ignoring it, first two open workouts have found holes in my game.

Hoping for a wheelhouse workout for number 3 then I can view it on Workout 3 standings only

Do you not regard the first 2 workouts as valid measures of fitness Scott?

Compared to last year's Open its terrible (so far). Really hope for better tests. Any fitness Johnnie off the street can do loads of burpees so now the leaderboard gets stretched with all the best rounded athletes 100's of points apart due to many people who probably cannot lift a heavy weight joining in just to do burpees.

The second test for me was pointless, easy 60 reps then 3-4 minutes of 1RM attempts.. And now people who finish the second bar 3 minutes after myself get almost the exact same score as me, so yes pretty ****ed about the start of this open. If only it was clean & jerk instead!! or 3rd bar was 72.5k then I could of muscled loads more.

I think the point of the second wod was to test technique, so they used a weight people couldn't just muscle. I reckon they're doing the '10 areas of fitness' agenda in their programming.

Lets hope muscle stamina is the next on the list then. My speciality.

Re: A Bears Tale

Congreat on the extra rep. Just beong on the third bar will draw a huge gap there. The next one will be good.

Oh and ''BOOO Fran''

Im not pleased with it Nik, I had over 3 minutes on that last bar and if anyone just looks at my score you would think I had 20 seconds on it. Anyway, its gone now good riddance to that workout and bring on the next.

Yeah BOOO Fran!! Its one of Rob's favourites so we have to indulge him on it more often than other bench marks.

Yea, I read your replys and you are right on the snatch workout, like you said, it is over and on ward we go. Stikll you got another rep instead of getting less. So on a personal note you did better.
