Re: Stopped smoking!!

Remember, the physical side is already done. From now on it's just head games. Kick it to the curb!

Re: Stopped smoking!!

I smoked, off and on (mostly on) for 15 years. I quit cold turkey for 5, then started back. I used the patch this time and have been quit for 5+. I was/am severely addiction prone and so it is a one day at a time effort for me - still. I want one at least once every day. I hope a potential smoker reads that!

I just ride out the cravings and keep going. I also know that I can never say never.

The funny thing is it's the hardest thing I ever did, until I decided to...

Good luck!

Way to go, Steve! Keep it up. And yes, we're watching, and we care!

Re: Stopped smoking!!

Well its 9 days and going strong!!

not really had bad cravings so far, just the odd one now and then.
Had really bad stomach problems though, seems like my digestive system has gone totally out of sync and can be quite painful sometimes but it should sort itself out.

Coughed up a load of brown gunge but i feel cleaner and healthier!!

thanks for all your comments and all your support

Re: Stopped smoking!!

Keep it up Steve. Don't look back, just forward.

My Mom smoked for 35+ years before she quit. She ended up with lung cancer, had most of one lung removed, and ran a marathon after that. All this in her 60's. She's an inspiration to me everyday, even though she's passed.

Re: Stopped smoking!!

You're doing it, Steve!

In my mulitple attempts at quitting in my teenage years and early 20s, I think days 3 through 6 were generally the hardest.

9 days = well done!

keep it up.

Re: Stopped smoking!!

Good job Steve. I know it's not exactly the same, but I had my last chew on Tuesday 02/05/08. I'm at 7 days without now and I'm chewing the out of toothpicks. The bad part is, when I was chewing, I didn't want to eat junk food as much. Now that I'm not, I want it all the time. But I also gave up junk food and any kind of soda on Tuesday as well. I'm kind of a mess right now with no sugar or tobacco, but I'm making it.

Stay strong man, you're doing great.

John

Good job Steve!

You inspired me to quit too! I started my own thread to document/help myself along

Re: Stopped smoking!!

WOOHOO! Go Steve!

Stomach - try onions. No really. They also are a good for oral satisfaction. White, raw, eat like an apple. This will also help keep you from overeating.

Brown gunge - I always found that swimming helped. I still (5 years later) can taste tar after I've swam some distance (20+ minutes). Seems to clean out the deep parts of the lungs.

Have you been to the produce section of the store yet? The smells will knock you out!

The positives are awesome.
