1 Month

Started CF in May 2010 so I'm still a "newbie" but thought I'd share how 1 month of Crossfit & a dialed in zone-influenced diet (no grains, no gluten, just meat, veggies, fruit and nuts, balancing out protein, fat and carbs) has impacted my body:

June 2010
26.5% Bodyfat
125 LB Lean Body Mass
-Piriformis syndrome, shin splints, bad popliteal muscle, plantar fascia, Grade 2 Whiplash injuries through mid and upper spine, back spasms, chronic headaches
-Prescriptions for muscle spasms, anti-inflammatories & chronic heartburn

July 2010
19.5% Bodyfat
135 LB Lean Body Mass
Dramatic improvements on caliper measurements (suprailiac from 15 to 7)
-Piriformis syndrome dramatically improved, no more shinsplints, popliteal a thing of the past, plantar fascia improving, no more headaches, back spasms have gone from daily to once a week. HUGE strength improvements.
-No more prescriptions, no more heartburn

Next week will be doing Murphy Challenge - will be great to compare times to when I first did it (May 2010)

Am taking progress photos once a month, so once I hit 6 months will post 'em up!

If my calculations are right, you lost 3lb in weight (gaining 10lb in lean mass, losing 13lb in BF), ie. 7% BF over the course of 1 month.

That's crazy, where do you buy your veggies?

I get them trucked in! Haha. jk. That's what I wish sometimes - there's a Whoooole lotta grocery shopping going on in this household (my husband does crossfit so we are on the same nutrition plan)

Wow, your progress is nothing short of amazing. It is really a great testimonial to what can be achieved with a very disciplined approach to both diet and exercise. Congratulations!

I still am not ready to eat paleo.

Awesome progress, Carina. I just hopped over to your blog and your post about contrast showers is hilarious. My shower goes from tepid to boiling so I've never gotten the full experience. You should come hang out in the Girl Power thread. I think we'd all get along great.

Thanks ladies, I will definitely join you over there!

Had another great milestone today...
Did Murphy's Challenge back in May, had to do knee pushups and 2 green bands for strict pullups, time was in the 59 minute range.

Did it last week - this time two blue bands for pullups, and time was in the 49 minute range. Still knee pushups but I was pretty happy with that!

=)

I do have progress photos - I'm going to take some in September so they are officially "6 month" photos. They show all the gory details so it's not for the faint of heart. haha.

Alrighty, I'm now officially at 6 months into Crossfit. I do have photos on my facebook album but don't think the link will work here. However, I do have a testimonial/pictures up on our Crossfit website. The photos are from the day I started CF - and then in July (3 months in). Huge differences already.
