I have found that I can Clean significantly more weight than I can Jerk. Is this normal? The last time we did heavy cleans I did 195-lbs and almost got 205-lbs up. However, I my max Jerk is about 170. Does this make sense or is a technique problem?

I used to have greater difficulty getting under the bar quickly on higher weights. Is this a problem with you? After fixed, I found I could do significantly more weight on my jerks

wade...skill transfer exercises for the jerk are: push press behind neck, push jerk behind neck, jerk behind neck. then: push press front, push jerk front, jerk front. all will help you with your jerk. the jerk drive is the same as the clean and snatch explosion phase...that 2nd pull.....coach b

A lot of guys have a lot more problem with the jerk than the clean (but not all.)

Many new lifters don't understand how fast one must move, nor how far down the body needs to move and how far up the bar doesn't move. Other common problems are related to a bad initial dip before the drive: too deep, too much horizontal movement, bar losing contact with the shoulders or doesn't even touch the shoulders at all...
