Re: Fish Oil Recomendation

Just to check I am baseing my Fish oil intake on the O3 contained in a capsule.

The caps I am taking have 340mg per cap so I take 3 caps 3 times a day to give me about 3 grams per day.

Am I counting right?

Also do most people take thier dosage all at one or throughout the day.

Re: Fish Oil Recomendation

Okay... I have emailed or pm people that express on this thread an interest in fish oil.
I have picked up the Ascentra Nutra sea HP fish oil
so here is the breakdown on the fish oil oil
liquid : 1 teaspoon/5 ml as a serving equals 2.3g
capsule: 1 cap is 1.16 g

40 cal per serving
fat 4.5g
saturated 0.5g no trans fat
polyunsaturated 3g
mono unsaturated 1 g
cholesterol 10 mg

total omega 3 2300mg
epa 1500mg
dha 500
other omega 3 is 300mg

Ingredients is pharma grade fish oil
natural lemon , vit e rosemary extract vit c thyme oil

Its a 3:1 ratio of EPA to DHA. so for you 0.5- 1.0 grams dosing types this means less capsules to swallow.

Ascenta fish oil is molecularly distilled, tested for 240 contaminates every lot and publishes those results. So you can run the numbers yourself and see what YOUR bottle contains. Its not a random test. All testing is done by a third party eurofins wfs http://www.portfolio.com/resources/c...abs-Inc-191828

Re: Fish Oil Recomendation

I looked at the website, I asume you are referring to the HP caps right?

Did I read it correctly that you have to take 4 caps to get the 2300mg of fish oil?

The stuff sold at CostCo by Ocean Nutrition Canada, http://www.ocean-nutrition.com/Products/dsmeg3.php has 1200mg of fish oil per capsule.

Read the labels.
amount per serving
and the yield of omega per serving. You will see that that there is some super weak products out there.. I have seen one capsule yields 65 mg epa and 32 of dha. which is really amount to junk when you compare it to other stuff out there.
Again.. I am not knocking costco.. its pure, its comes from good sources , and its cheap.
look at what the serving is

Re: Fish Oil Recomendation

After listening to the Dr. Sears journal, am I correct in thinking that we should not be taking any fish oil supplement that contains Omega-6?

Frank, Please check your e-mail. Let me know if you got mine.

Re: Fish Oil Recomendation

Imo, it's probably a better idea like most supplements to spread them out through the day than all in one dose as your body can sometimes only absorb so much at any given. Not sure about fish oil because I don't know how long it takes to breakdown and stays in your system (EPA/DHA is fat soluble right?)

Hmm 100 doses in 1 bottle for 30 bucks. That's 6.4g of EPA/DHA a day if I took 4 serving a day (wherein I usually always do morning/night and maybe once after dinner or workout but the bottle would be at home so I could only hit it then).

Does anybody on here actually take more than 10g of EPA/DHA a day? Honestly, I think the most I've ever taken is 12 caps at 600mg a cap total so that's 7.2g. I typically always take 2-3, sometimes 4 after waking up and before going to bed and maybe once during the day if I'm at home.

I think I'm good so long as I hit 2-3 caps at least 2x a day and anything beyond that is extra credit. I haven't really tested it out and kept a journal, yet.

Anybody?
