Globo's attracting CrossFitters

Anyone else notice that globos are starting to add bumper plates, and rigs? Our local one is definitely trying to step up to the game. Starting to see people go there to do mainsite and Invictus wods hahaha.

Re: Globo's attracting CrossFitters

Ive heard of a number of Golds Gyms starting to get bumper plates and platforms, but that is about the most mainstream ive heard of. Im sure they still wont let you drop snatches or jerks from overhead though, the liability of that is probably much different than when the guidelines were made.

Re: Globo's attracting CrossFitters

Golds has had some inexpensive bars, bumpers and platforms for years now but sometimes they will yell at for dropping weights from overhead even on the platform. It varies.

Gold's is the only one I've heard of that does though YEARS back World's gym used to have bumpers, bar, and platform. No idea what name of equipment but it seemed to work.

Our gLobos here have rooms made to look like a box. All the same equipment, trainers, even has gone so far to put a roll up door on it with tires outside. That part makes me laugh for some reason. Then they call it beast mode or something like that.

Do they charge a higher fee like CF, or is it the same rate as an average globo? If its cheaper, that may be a good deal for some people, assuming the trainers are CF certified and not "Planet Fitness" certified.

Re: Globo's attracting CrossFitters

Pacific Health Club in Liverpool, NY recently bought a pre-existing independent affiliate (Salt City CrossFit) and moved the box into the globo gym. I imagine it was a lot cheaper than starting an entirely new CrossFit gym -- especially since they could easily transfer the existing membership base.
