CF'ing with winging scapula?

Hi,

My friend lost nerve innervation to his right scapula and has winging scapula. He can't do push-ups or hold weight above his head...or a lot of things upperbody wise. Has anyone here rehab'ed someone with winging scapula??? Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated.

Humm, interesting question. I don't know much abou that but can he do scapular pushups? These tend to help correct and exercise the muscles around the scapulae if they are getting out of whack.

Re: CF'ing with winging scapula?

I actually have nerve damage in my R shoulder with scapular winging. My doctor has limited me to just running, cycling, using a treadmill or an elliptical. I think its too far myself, but I wouldn't recommend doing any even moderately heavy upper body work with the affected limb.

Re: CF'ing with winging scapula?

A few months ago I suffered an AC separation and my shoulder still isn't totally well. So I looked up some other possibilities and I stumbled upon this site about scapular problems. I'm hoping it helps me and you.

It has explanations of causes and treatments with pictures.
