Snatch Balance weight

I'm a beginner with O lifts & need some help.

Should snatch balance reps be lighter than snatch 1RM? or heavier? What's a good percentage to start with? I did snatch balances today for the first time, with about 65-70% of my snatch 1RM.

Re: Snatch Balance weight

You should eventually be able to handle more in the snatch balance 1RM than in the snatch 1RM, as much as 20% more.

I've heard it the other way around....Not for certain though.

Re: Snatch Balance weight

Mike Burgener suggests that you should handle what you can snatch and possibly more in the snatch balance. Same thing in the overhead squat.

Re: Snatch Balance weight

It should definitely be more once you get the hang of it. You're essentially cutting the pull from the floor and turnover out of the snatch.
