Concept Model A
Can anyone tell me if a Model A is adequate for CrossFit? I have a chance to pick one up for $275 (may be negotiable).
Thanks Scott |

Re: Concept Model A
Hi Scott,
Yes,it's adequate but not ideal as I don't believe the model A has a monitor. There are ways to estimate around it. You may also be able to retrofit; not sure. Do a search and check out the excellent Concept 2 site. IMO, $275 is twice what I would pay for a model A; if I'd even get one at all. I found a barely used model C for $350. I'd keep waiting and watching CraigsList. |

Re: Concept Model A
Thanks John. I've been scouring Craigslist for about a month now. My problem is that I'm about 5 hours from any major city. I'm sure I'll find something eventually. I was actually hoping this one was a model B. $275 would have been a decent price then.
I've pretty much set myself on finding a Model C for $400. I know it's doable if I'm patient. I've missed 2 already so I'll just keep hunting. |

$275 is a bit much, I see C's go for that price on craigslist fairly often.

Re: Concept Model A
A model A, in my opinion, no more than $25. It will cost more than $200 to upgrade the monitor. Be patient and keep watching for at least a C.

Re: Concept Model A
I've got a Model 'A' and it's a fine machine...
it was over priced at $300, but it was worth it... and you have to factor the $180ish monitor if you want meaningful feedback regarding times/distances/power/energy. So it was nearly $500 for me...but in the months following the purchase I didn't see a single C2 rower around... It's in great condition BTW... ![]() |

Re: Concept Model A
Matt,
Yeah, that's a pretty sweet deal. Right now, I have brothers in EauClaire, WI which is near Minneapolis and my other brother is near Atlanta. My daughters are at FSU. So. I am watching Craigslist for those areas and I can have them bring it to me if I get one. I missed a pair of model C's in the Oxford area for $400 each. I'm still kicking myself over that one. It would have been worth driving down to pick them up. |
