405 deadlift!

i had set my goal to get a 405 deadlift a few months ago before christmas. However tried to do 405 last night and ...SUCCESS! much earlier then expected, SS and the strength hybrid are leet sauce! Problem was got it all the way to the top then WOOOOP slips out of my hands ....next time must bring chalk....new goal is 405 1X5 by x-mas WAHOOO

Does it count if you drop it from the top?

My understanding is that a DL starts and ends on the floor. Nevertheless - he got the hard part over with ....

Well-- I am pretty sure that his DL started with the weight on the floor and it ended on the floor!

They call it the deadlift....it really does not matter if you drop or lower under control does it? As long as the movement fully reaches the top and is locked out, chest out, back straight I believe it is good. I remember Ripetoe saying something to this effect in our barbell cert.
