Just wondering if anyone here has a sketch on how to make these pieces of equipment? A friend of mine told me that there was a handle you can attach to a DB to convert it to a KB. Hope you guys can help me out here. thanks

I was thinking to making one out of pipe.
I liked the looks of this design, but have not seen it live. I was worried about size & feel.
I don't have any of the standard weights though.
There is another handle with flat sheet steel leading down to an axle of sorts. A friend told me not to bother since the plates hit you in a bad way. He just bought a real kettlebell and is much happier. I am not sure of the brand.
I will swing dumbells until I am ready to drop money on a real bonafide kettlebell. Good Luck.

If you are going to make a KB, be careful that it is a very secure piece of equiptment since you'll most likely be throwing it overhead.

The same story applies with kettlestacks and kettlegrips. Just be cautious when getting the weight overhead.

All of the KB companies design their KBs slightly different and of course cost different prices. Paul's friend is right if the handle is too long the weight will hit you lower on the forearm and cause discomfort.

We have several different KBs, if you have the oppurtunity to try someone's KBs before you buy that would be your best bet so you for sure which design works best for you.

I made my first few pairs of kettlebells a few years back by using a heavy gauge heater hose, or bent section of PVC pipe sunk into a basketball filled with concrete.

When the concrete sets, peel the basketball off (don't do too much damage to it so you can use it as a mold again later) and apply your favourite stencil with spraypaint.

They usually came out around 25lbs each. Kept me busy for 2 summers before I saved up enough for the real deal.

Here is a link to the homemade kettlebell i made a year ago. Its the second picture. worked o.k But it can`t compare to a real one .It will give you the feel of kb training but its not half the fun , efficiency and comfort of a real one .

Another variation would be Macy grip olympic plates or any other plat that has the hand grips and using them for various movements.

Would be a different feel than kb/db movements, if anyone gives it a try let me know how it works. I learned the tip after I already sold off my old Macy grip plates.

The Marcy grip plates work pretty good when you set them up as an unbalanced dumbbell and do two-handed swings, the hand hole is too small for one-handed stuff though, so I made a couple homemade adjustable k'bells. A little different style than those posted. I will attach some pix when I get home.

They suffice for now, until I get back on Santa's 'good boy' list.
