I am generally quite flexible and have no trouble with deep squats, a2a OHS, etc. But when I do squat cleans, front squats or thrusters I have a flexibility problem.

I cannot hold my elbow above my shoulders while holding the bar. This leaves my elbows in my knees path when I am at the bottom of the movement. It also makes my wrists the stress point for thrusters.

What are a few stretches I could do to remedy this?

Best,
Marshall

Hey marshall!

Try this:

At least the arm part of it. It's called garudasana or eagle pose. Keep lifting the elbows high. I'll help you tomorrow in the park.

You can put a heavily loaded bar in a squat rack, address it like you've caught the clean and just stretch those elbows up. You can also just hold one hand on your shoulder with the other and stretch the elbows up from there. Just find ways to imitate the position.
