2 UFC 74 fights...

...for those, like me, who missed it (at least i made on time for GSP & Randy live!).

This one is for Thales Leites vs Ryan Jensen. A great fight! Thales finishes it w/ the most beautiful armlock I've seen inside the cage:

I don't know if it's W/F safe. It's a fight.

BTW Disregard Rogan's comment reffering to Ryan's "...big mistake..." for having "..left that arm in there...". He didn't leave "...that arm in there..." AT ALL!! Notice, in fact, that Ryan not only didn't leave his arm "in there", he had it well tucked inside his legs. It was beautifully TAKEN!

This one is for Babalu vs David Heat.

NOT family/work safe, as it's VERY bloody.

Enjoy!
Ty

Thanks for the link Celio. You were right about the arm bar by Leites. It was a beautiful technique that won the match for him and not a mistake on the part of Jensen.

On the second link, Babalu gave some good elbows. But he showed very bad sportsmanship at the end during his submission.

Re: 2 UFC 74 fights...

Thanks for the links. My friends and I were wondering what fight left all that blood in the ring.

Couture cut Gonzaga's nose pretty early on. He was bleeding like a stuck pig by the end of the fight. Gonzaga gassed early and Randy more or less dominated the fight. He tried for the head kick a couple times. Randy ducked one, blocked one, and took one to the head, but managed to sidestep the full impact.

That is my somewhat intoxicated recollection

I'd fine the hell out of Babalu for holding that choke.

Re: 2 UFC 74 fights...

Well, it's not really that Randy "cut" Gonzaga and Gonzaga "gassed", but Randy BROKE GONZAGA'S NOSE w/ his head while slamming him on the mat during a takedown and as a result GONZAGA COULDN'T BREATHE. If you watch the fight you'll see Gonzaga spitting blood over & over again. He was literally breathing blood.

Gonzaga demonstrated his warrior spirit BIG TIME in that fight! He was in one of the worse circunstances a fighter could ever be, and yet, he remined unshaken and kept fighting Randy to his best ability, even landing good shots.

To me, what happened early in the fight was a great misfortune for us fans and for Gonzaga. I REALLY wanna see a rematch betwwen them both!!! That fight demonstrated to be as good in the cage as it was on paper and we all missed out a GREAT WAR because of an accident very early into it.

...and yeah, I agree that Babalu (not surprising) demonstrated bad sportmanship and should be fined. My understanding is that there was real bad blood between both of them. But still, the cage is a professional environment and should not be a stage for streefight-style-revenge. At the same time, I can see how high emotions can be near impossible to control inside the cage, specially for someone like Babalu.

Re: 2 UFC 74 fights...

That said, Celio, Randy came in with a great plan: negate Gonzaga's skills by pinning him on the fence and employing dirty boxing. It's getting to be that Randy's best weapon is his ability to break down his opponent's game and plan accordingly. Brains and brawn -tough to beat. I think he would have won the fight regardless.

I read the Nevada State Athletic Commission is holding half of Babalu's $50,000 purse pending investigation. Bravo.

I have to say I'm happy the Canadians won

Bit off topic, but anyone think UFC will go to Montreal like GSP asked for?
