Memorial Day Murph.

I had to modify for the pull ups but I managed to get it in 53:47. Felt like dying during the last mile.

Did anyone else go for it?

Did it with the additional vest, grueling. 50:34. Awesome experience...we had 60 some people in three waves do it at our gym. Beers and cookout afterward.

Re: Memorial Day Murph.

39:04 without the vest. I just turned 16 a month ago. Did it 5-10-20 style but that last mile was still miserable. Murph's second mile is the biggest mental game in any workout. Next time definitely looking forward to the fun of the vest!

Re: Memorial Day Murph.

I did mine Saturday. 20 rounds of 5/10/15. It was hard, but I beat my previous time by 13 minutes so I'm happy with that. 51:04 RX, no vest.

I was shooting for 50, but it wasn't to be. My second mile was better than I expected so at least I'm making progress.

35:43, no vest. Only split I know was 6:05 for the first run. Did 5-10-30 for 10 and 5-10 for the last 10 as was talked about in the strategy thread, really helped on the last run - even though my arms were still dead from pushups at least my legs weren't toast.

Awesome/ridiculous thing - literally right when the clock started, it started pouring rain. Like legitimate torrential downpour. That made it extra fun.

Jeff that sounds awesome! I love rain for running WOD's. Just seems to give it a little extra fun. Too bad no rain in Vegas today! Just 98 degrees and 4% Humidity :/

Re: Memorial Day Murph.

Oh, it was great! Last year is was hotter than Hades - over 100, which is weird in St Louis in May, so it was a good way to keep everything cool this year. Also, there's no complaining allowed no matter how hard it was raining considering the meaning of doing this workout on this day!

Re: Memorial Day Murph.

Absolutely true. At our box I just witnessed an 8 year old girl complete the entire workout. Rx'd in 47:38. It was incredible to watch. I was assisting in coaching her class so I ran both the miles with her since we have to use the sidewalk next to the street. Pretty amazing to watch and very humbling.

Re: Memorial Day Murph.

39:50 for me, I partitioned it 5-5-15-5 like Blair recommended in the "Murph Tactics" thread. Knocked 15 minutes off my time, next year I will try it with a vest.

Re: Memorial Day Murph.

32:50 for me, no vest. A light rain, which is not unusual for Oregon. I was thinking about 5 rounds of 20-40-60, but after 1 round of that, I bagged that idea, and stuck to my first plan of 10-20-30. I was able to hold that pace unbroken. My running sucks, 9 minutes for both the first and 2nd miles.
