sport watch for CF

Hi,

I am new to CrossFit and train on my own. I realized that I need a decent sport watch. By "decent" I mean "lowest price given that it has all necessary functions". Anybody has any recommendations? What functions do you find useful? I can think of the following:
1. stopwatch
2. lap time/total time
3. fixed intervals timer (this is what I couldn't find in the models I looked at; I mean a function that would make the watch beep every five minutes, or one minute, or whatever, so that I would know when to switch from one exercise to another or from work to rest).

Thanks in advance.

I got a cheapy Timex Expedition watch from Target that has all those features. Even the function that alarms at whatever fixed interval you choose. It has a cloth wrist strap with velcro closure and was $30 if I remember correctly. I'm bummed cause I just lost it and now have to get a new one.

Re: sport watch for CF

Before I got my Suunto T6, I was very happy with my Timex OVA:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw...ex+ova&x=0&y=0

The price is above your stated preference, but the watch served me well and meets your other requirements.

Note that some other, cheaper Timex watches have the same features of the OVA series- the OVA series watches just place the face of the watch on the side of your wrist, rather than the top. This is useful for running- and also for KB snatches/cleans.

I use a Timex Ironman. Paid about $30 at Wal-Mart.

I also looking into buying a timer with more features. I believe the brand is banned on here now, but it contains the words "gym" and "boss" placed together to form one word. And that's like $20 or so.

Got a Nike Triax a couple years ago from campmor online...I found getting watches after some searches online can really save you money. The Triax has everything including a counter for when you count Rds. during a workout and it also shuts off if not in use to conserve energy.

Why is that brand name banned here?

Another vote for Timex Ironman. Does everything I ever needed.

Protip: Don't get a fabric strap. Nothing keeps them from smelling after a while.

They would give a free t-shirt to anyone who posted a positive review on a message board and sent them the link as proof. All of a sudden, we began getting a lot of "I love this timer!" threads.
