rest days

If I feel up to it, can I work out on rest days? Can I play a game of basketball, go on an easy run or do a spinning class? I probably wont be sore from these things. Thx.

Re: rest days

Do a hard metcon on a rest day? I wouldn't recommend that.

Active recovery like "a game of basketball, go on an easy run or do a spinning class." Go for it. These actually help recovery because of increased blood flow to muscles.

Re: rest days

Be in touch with how your body feels. Notice any reduction in strength, energy, or an increase in soreness. If you need the full rest day. Take it. Nature has a way of making one take a day off if it's needed. I jumped into a 5/2 too soon. I ended up over-reaching. A light game may be ok. Spinning may be too much. Very light rowing can help relieve soreness.

Re: rest days

Do you guys have any info of other stuff you could do on rest day? I rested on the last rest day and had a harder time doing PU on first day back. Am I doing something wrong? I do puppies level scaled down on BrandX and work as a firemedic so I don't have much time for B-Ball or running.

Re: rest days

What did you eat/drink on your rest day? Did you get enough sleep? What do you mean by a harder time on pu's coming back? Were you sore from the previous workout? How do you do pullups etc? Did the FAQ's on the main page have any ideas on rest days and recovery?

Re: rest days

I assumed you meant pullups. Sorry if it was actually pushups. I'm thinking you might do well with light stretching on a rest day. When I first started I did light rowing to get the blood flowing. I stretch daily.

Re: rest days

They gave me some on the FAQ's. I try to drink as much water as I can and am trying to work on the Zone diet but its kind of hard to stick to at work. My pull ups felt a little harder to do from some soreness. I'm beginning to think that soreness is just part of CF . I get sore but not as bad as when I started. I'm thinking my diet may be some of it.

Re: rest days

Getting sleep at night when I'm on shift is a toughie, too.
